I was born in San Miguel de Allende, and my parents are Americans who adopted me and my little sister here when we were less than 3 years old. So, I’m a Mexican with 31 years of really close experience dealing with foreigners here. My dad has been a real estate broker in San Miguel since then, and my mom works with him, so I grew up in the business.
Because so many of our clients for all these years have been foreigners who were referred to us, a lot of what I do now is help provide information to people coming to San Miguel, or at least thinking about it, usually for a long time before and after they actually get here. We try to treat people like we would want to be treated, especially in a place we’re not familiar with, so we love sharing all the great stuff, but really the most important part of our job is helping people understand what they need to know to avoid potential problems most foreigners don’t know to be concerned about, before they even start shopping for real estate here. Like my dad always says, if there’s anything about being or buying here that might be a deal breaker, the sooner you find out, the better.
